Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd's net profit for the third quarter ended Jan 31, 2007 has more than tripled to RM38.7 million from RM12.05 million a year ago, mainly due to higher selling prices of timber products.

The company told Bursa Malaysia on March 23 that revenue rose 14% to RM226.98 million from RM198.64 million previously. Earnings per share was 15.22 sen.

For the nine months ended Jan 31, 2007, its net profit surged to RM94.94 million from RM31.33 million a year ago, on a 29% increase in revenue to RM625.7 million from RM485.25 million.

"The current strength of timber prices is expected to remain intact in the foreseeable near future in view of the tight log supply condition and strong demands from major timber consuming countries," Jaya Tiasa added.

The third quarter EPS is 15.22sen and current year to date (9 months) is 37.34 sen
