Harimau Capital Rating : Malaysia Stocks Analysis
This is a reference guide for retail (minority) investors who like to invest in Malaysia stock market (Bursa Malaysia). We select a small number of stock counters in the watch list as a reference stock. The stocks are evaluated based on both value and growth investing principles. The rating also emphasizes how good is the company's investor relationship. The investor relationship analysis is based on number of factors: regular company business analysis information sharing (quarterly business presentation update), dividend policy, . We believe those companies which have good investor relationship, usually outperform others in term investment return for retail investors in long run.
As a retail investor, we are passive investors and we neither have any insider information nor power of business direction. We are investing in stocks solely based on the business information available publicly today; we do not like major shareholder/insiders or professional traders whose trade stock based on insider information or technical indicators.

Jaya Tiasa vs Ta Ann

Both Jaya Tiasa and Ta Ann started from timber business and later ventured to the oil palm business. Below are the some direct comparison between the two companies.
Based on the planted palm oil area, Jaya Tiasa FFB output will overtake Ta Ann in FY2013 as Jaya Tiasa was more aggressive in planting on last 5 years.
Jaya Tiasa on the way making itself as a mid-size plantation company in next 3 years. And the company also trying to unlock its value through the recent bonus issue plan. Overall, the company can be RM5-6 billion company in 5 years time.
Note:
1. Jaya Tiasa Financial Year was ended at 31 Apr compared to Ta Ann which ended at 31 Dec. Also Jaya Tiasa has planned to changed its financial yead ended from 31 Apr to 30 Jun starting in FY 2012.

LPI
LPI Capital Bhd (“LPI”), previously known as London & Pacific Insurance Company Berhad, is an investment holding company. The Company changed its name to LPI Capital Bhd and transferred its entire insurance business to a wholly owned subsidiary, Lonpac Insurance Bhd (“Lonpac”) after a rationalisation scheme on 1 May 1999.
LPI was established on 24 May 1962 as a private limited company and was registered as an approved insurer on 9 April 1963 under the Malaysian Insurance Act, 1963. LPI shares were listed on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (“Bursa Securities”) on 8 January 1993 and subsequently were transferred to the Main Market of Bursa Securities on 17 January 1997.
Core Business LPI Group remains significantly focused on its core business in the general insurance market through its wholly-owned insurance subsidiary. It offers a wide range of general insurance products and services covering various general insurance classes namely, property, liability, pecuniary, employees’ benefits, projects, motor, marine as well as personal products insurances. Both fire and motor classes occupy 1/3 each of the gross written premium.

Number Highlights:
1. Mid to high single digit revenue growth, estimate 10%. (Digi 2012 Guidance)
